The Oregon Zoo started out in the back of a
pharmacy in the mid 1880’s with 1 resident
collecting animals as a hobby. It is now the
oldest zoo west of the Mississippi and includes
all types of animals from around the world. The
zoo also offers educational programs and is a
center for wildlife preservation and research.
